Fatima is from Beirut, Lebanon. She is a journalist, peace activist, and member at MAP – Media Association for Peace. Fatima is a great supporter of Peace Journalism believing it can play a role in peacebuilding. She believes this can be achieved when journalists preserve their homeland across respecting human rights, establishing dialogue, and skipping conflicts, disputes, and pre-judgements.

What is Peace Journalism?

“Peace Journalism is when editors and reporters make choices – of what stories to report, and how to report them – that create opportunities for society at large to consider and value non-violent responses to conflict (…) It uses the insights of conflict analysis and transformation to update the concepts of balance, fairness and accuracy in reporting. (…) It is peace, truth, people, and solution-oriented.” (Peace Journalism, Jake Lynch and Annabel McGoldrick, Hawthorn Press, Stroud, UK, 2005).

Fatima’s ambition is therefore to spread peace journalism and work within its principles.
